The thought is amazing but the run up to taking time away from work can be very hectic if you’re a business owner. The pressures of getting all work done beforehand and then the potential of coming back to a mountain of emails can be daunting.
It doesn’t have to be this way! There is a wealth of technology out there to help ease these pressures and make your time away from the office a nice and relaxing break so why not make use of them?
Here are 5 tips to ensure your mobile devices, smart phones and tablets are working for you.
1. Set your profile to Holiday Mode
Most telephone systems and email applications allow you to set a profile such as “In a Meeting”, “Out of the Office”, “On Leave” etc. If this facility is available use it. This helps notify everyone you are on holiday and weed out those non essential calls and emails. The last thing you want is to get nuisance business calls.
2. Activate international roaming profile on your mobile
There’s nothing worse than finding out you can’t use your mobile phone whilst abroad. Make sure you contact your service provider to setup international roaming prior to your holiday so you can share those holiday snaps on social media whilst you’re away!
3. Increase your mobile data allowance
Using apps like Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter to keep in touch with friends is great fun, but can easily eat up your data allowance. The last thing you want is to come home to a very expensive mobile bill. Don’t forget to check your mobile phone and tablet data allowance!
4. Back up all of the data on your mobile phone/tablet
Losing a mobile device can be distressing especially if you have been taken treasured holiday snaps. Make it a habit to back your devices up every so often to ensure your beloved snaps are stored away safely in the cloud.
5. Set up remote access if you have CCTV at home/work
Most CCTV systems will have a mobile app that lets you log in to your cameras from anywhere, give you added piece of mind whilst sipping that cocktail on the beach.
Finally don’t forget to unwind, relax and enjoy the long awaited break from the routine.
